Like a ship built free of a sail
I was stranded before I’d begun
And I couldn’t sleep for fear of the nightmares making
their way into my dreams
and corrupting every part of me

I wasted my time
waiting for better days to arrive
but they never showed
and I was left broken and alone
If I’d been any weaker
I would have drowned in the sea of my own inabilities
but I found the strength
to make my own better days
and bury the pain

I finally see
the difference between
what I want
and what I need
