Sidestreets In London Testo

Testo Sidestreets In London

I witnessed her walking
on the sidestreets in London
in an alleyway fit for a bum.
The strap on her shoulder
had long since broken
and her dress had washed out in the sun.
"To Trafalgar or nothing,"
She told herself
While the taxis all asked her to fight
I had been looking for something
and ever since then
I thought that she could turn out alright.

We're like strangers, though;
like neighbors yelling;
like the song trapped down in the den.
Lately I've been thinking
about all that it could be like
just to live as simple as this.

I followed her walking
to a bank in Manhattan
to a money machine carved out of gold.
and I stood pat, wishin'
as her eyelid kept twitchin'
like a dog left out in the cold.
She said she loved me,
or something
I could tell she was bluffing
Yeah, her eyes do that when she lies.
I hailed a taxi
It missed me
so did she when she kissed me
but there's another one right down the line.

Now, I'm the downtown breeze
airing my secrets
I'm the preacher preaching in sin.
Lately I've been thinking
about all that it would be like
if we could live simple as this
