The Donkey Testo

Testo The Donkey

Caramellia, she fills her basket
Where the river reaches the shore
While La Niña combs the horizon through a storm
And the others, they nurse their children
Where the fishboats sailed at dawn
As I look on from the olive grove before sleeping
Caramellia could not be lighter
Almost a ghost and less of a rider
More like a feather
You see, I am just a donkey
And I am unloved and unclean
And I know that I'll soon see my masters
As thеy're being swept out to sеa

Last night the lucky few tramped two-by-two
Across the floodplains in the dark
The last pair of every beast to live and to breathe
Were being sealed inside the ark
And then they sailed away to let me pay for
All of the misdeeds and the sins
Of all who've ever had prayers answered
And then seen their ships come in

You see I may be a donkey
And I'm as tired as I am grey
But I've only ever been a beast of burden
And I say let it rain, rain, rain, rain
Rain harder
Harder, harder
Harder, harder
Harder, harder

And Caramellia, you don't make me tired now
Ride me like a ghost to where we're all going to go
And we're all going forever
And Caramellia, do you ever wonder
Where this storm is blowing and why that's where we're all going?
And we're all going together
