Desert Dove Testo

Testo Desert Dove

Desert Doves wake me
In the Catalina Dawn
You’d be up already
Listening to their mourning song

The birds all knew you
They’d come running through the sand
You’d be out there sitting
With a Cardinal in your hand
I bought an olive tree
To plant your ashes underneath
A tree that lives for fifteen hundred years
And I know it won’t bring you back
But it has arms like yours

Praise
To early waking grievers
To those who face the dawn
Cry out in your weakness
And the rain may come

On the other side of the ocean
There is a child
Who is a Woman now
And when I hear your Desert Dove
I am reminded not to stay away
From my own soul too long

Praise
To early waking grievers
To those who face the dawn
Cry out in your weakness
And the rain may come

Praise to doubters and to dreamers
May your questions be a song
Cry out in your weakness
And the rain may come

So I listen for that sound
Carried by the Dove
To show me my own sorrow
And how to rise above

Today it was something I read
By a dead Poet
